Mary Genora Dodson Strange passed away the afternoon of February 9, 2022, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living surrounded by loving family members after a lengthy illness. She was born September 12, 1923 to William and Mary (King) Dodson in Morgan Township, Dade County, Missouri.
She was married in 1941 to CSM Shirley F. Strange US Army for a union that lasted 59 years separated only by death. Stationed at multiple duty stations across the United States, as well as, France and Germany; when unable to travel as a family with CSM Strange, they would return to Dadeville, MO, and the support of family and friends until they could be reunited again. She is known as “Granny” by 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; and is known as “Aunt Joie” to numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
She was a renowned cook and a wonderful seamstress. She pieced many magnificent quilts, as well as many crocheted beautiful afghans.
Mary Genora was preceded in death by her husband Shirley; her son Scott, her brother Johnny Dodson, and her sister Ida Dodson Brewer and is survived by her four children and two brothers, Buddy K. and Billy E. Dodson of Dadeville, MO.
Interment was at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS 66048, February 17, 2022, with a graveside service for family only.
