Mary Lee Welch-Zule, 77, of Leavenworth passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1944, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Joseph and Opal (Cline) Welch.
On July 27, 1962, Mary married Gary Zule in McLouth, Kansas. He survives her after 59 years of marriage. She is also survived by six children, Kelly (Richard) Korb, Cheryl (Kriss) Swartz, Becky (Jeff) Spink, Joe (Jennifer) Zule, David (Julie) Zule and Amy (Jim) Sloan; 13 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren; three siblings, Pat (Shirley) Welch, JoAnn (Duane) Monroe and Barbara (James) Schmidt; in-laws, Ronnie Zule, Linda (Dan) Patterson, Kenny Seber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary retired from Fort Leavenworth after 33 years of Civil Service.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Frances Seber.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, playing cards, and watching sports. Mary especially enjoyed cheering on her Jayhawks and Royals. Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s activities and family gatherings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fall Creek Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the Leavenworth Council on Aging. The family would like to express appreciation to Meagan Broom, her home health nurse for taking such good care of our mother.
