Merle Orval Nicks, 90, of Leavenworth died Saturday, October 8, 2022. He was born August 18, 1932, in Pomona, Calif., to Glenn Thomas and Esther Eugenia (Nolte) Nicks.

He is survived by two sons, Glenn Herschel Nicks of Southern California and Paul Elias Nicks of Leavenworth; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jean Nicks, on January 9, 2022; and his brother, Delmer Nicks.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Merle enjoyed difficult puzzle books, the kind that would hurt your brain to look at.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to H.O.P.E. Pet Rescue.
