Violet Mildred Schott

Violet Mildred Schott, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend passed to her Heavenly Father on February 3, 2022. Violet, known as “Vi” to most, was born July 9, 1930, in Jewell County (near Mankato), Kansas. She lived in Colorado, Idaho and Kansas in her formative years. After graduating from Friends Bible Academy, Haviland, Kansas, she established residence in Friendswood, TX, Latham, Wichita, Emporia, and Hutchinson, KS, Grandview and St. Joseph, MO. She eventually settled in the Lansing/Leavenworth area and enjoyed being an active member of the community for over fifty years.

She enjoyed participating in Human Animal Bond (pet therapy) functions as a volunteer at nursing homes that allowed her extra time with her dachshunds (20+ years). She also enjoyed gardening to produce amazing fruits, vegetables and flowers and singing in the Sanctuary Choir at First United Methodist Church of Leavenworth (26 years). She was great at converting her garden bounty into delicious meals in the kitchen. Vi had a knack for turning leftovers into a delicious casserole. Examples of the personal touch were her “wilted lettuce” and “oyster dressing.”

She could also juggle – work and family – making sure her five sons had enough to eat, a roof over their head, clothes on their back, and there was enough gas in the car to get them to sports practice, scouts, band and other extracurricular activities.

She enjoyed applying her talents working as a bank teller, realtor, interior decorator, city clerk and accountant. She obtained an associate degree with a concentration in accounting from Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Preceding her in death were her Parents, Merle and Ruth Roe, Brother, Elmer Roe and Grandson, Brett Ferguson. She is survived by HUSBAND, Milton Schott, Leavenworth, KS, SONS,
